Houston Engine and Balancing customers dominated the IHRA Pro-Am Tour held at State Capitol Raceway this weekend. This race was unique in that the rained out Pine Valley Raceway 2 event race was concluded prior to running the 2 event State Capitol race. The schedule allowed for each racer of a Rod category (Hot Rod, Super Rod, and Quick Rod) a total of 4 possible finals. Out of the 12 possible Rod finals, Houston Engine and Balancing customers were present for 67% of them. As for the possible wins, Houston Engine and Balancing customers took home 50%.
Day 1 of the Pine Valley Raceway event was completely swept by Houston Engine and Balancing customers Dwight Pyle, Travis Salter, and Chris LeBlanc. Dwight’s progression to his win was particularly spectacular in that he held no more than a .001 variance for his last three elapsed times (8.899, 8.900, and 8.900) in a 55 Chevy Shoebox. The Pine Valley Day 2 Super Rod class win was taken home by Shannon Brinkley as he took out the previous race winner, Travis Salter, with a perfect 9.900 elapsed time. After being eliminated by Shannon, Travis Salter returned to the Super Rod winner circle for Day 1 of the State Capitol race. He was in good company as Chris LeBlanc and Shannon Brinkley both took runner-up positions in Hot Rod and Quick Rod respectively. To seal off a great weekend of racing, Ray Dew claimed a Hot Rod win for final day at State Capitol Raceway.

Houston Engine and Balancing Service customers swept the footbrake class this weekend at Houston Raceway Park. It was John Winn taking the win for the Saturday race and Dennis Clark taking the Sunday honors. This was Dennis’s first win at a Houston bracket race despite being the 2007 Summit ET National Champion. To ramp up the pressure for the final round, Dennis and his competition agreed to a heads-up race. They each set a dial that was 2 tenths faster than their quickest elapsed time for that day. There was a starting line advantage of 11 thousandths in favor of the competition that Dennis had to overcome. The Nova was pointed to the sky with a lot of hang time as it powered past the competition by 8 thousandths of a second for the win. Congratulations to John Winn, Dennis Clark, and Bart Nelson for his Super Pro win on Sunday.

Bart Nelson claimed an 1/8 mile victory over current track champion Donny Burleson at Houston Raceway Park this weekend. It was a 4.782 ET @ 142.32 MPH for Bart and a 4.486 ET @ 149.10 for Donny that posted to the scoreboards for the final round. Look for both of these very competitive Houston Engine and Balancing Service customers to battle again soon for bragging rights.
