David Hubbard claims his third consecutive Texas Pro Stock championship for 2006! This year proved to be another successful year for the Houston Engine and Balancing Service TPSA racing team with 10 final round appearances out of a possible 12. David Hubbard was able to take home 7 wins and 2 runner-ups while Les Costales gathered up 1 of the wins. This last victory at the last race of the season had David coming very close to his own 2006 1/8 mile TPSA elapsed time record of 4.790. He posted to the Houston Motorsports Park scoreboards a 4.82, 4.80, 4.80 and a 4.81 for the win. Expect next year to be even more exciting as more Houston Engine customers dip into the 4.8Os in their quest for a 2007 TPSA championship.

Les Costales took home a win this weekend at Pine Valley Raceway in the ultra competitive Texas Pro Stock racing organization as a hired gun of Joe Pigford. Joe provided the vehicle and its setup as Tommy Costales supplied his latest Houston Engine and Balancing Service “SG1” engine combination as the power plant. The results astonished, as Les was able to qualify number one at a 4.8858 in bad air in front of the current TPSA champion, David Hubbard, with his number two spot 4.9425 1/8 mile elapsed time. By the luck of the draw, HE&B powered drivers Les and David were paired up first round for a 4.8703 vs. 4.9268 win for Les. Les’s top MPH for this event was 142.54 MPH and his low ET was 4.8637 in the final. If you are looking for power that fits within the TPSA rules give Tommy Costales a call, as this winning “SG1” engine is FOR SALE!

Roger Warren climbed up to the number 4 spot in the NHRA Super Gas Division 4 points chase by winning his second divisional event this year. With only 6 of the possible 8 races claimed for the Division 4 championship, Roger has some room to improve his current position. John Maddox, who is also from Jacksonville, Texas, took home the runner-up finish in the NHRA Top Dragster category.
